OTP SMS best practices

A good verification SMS is short, objective, and contains no links. Include the code, ideally 6 digits, your brand name, and the expiry time. Avoid promotional terms that harm delivery and trust.

For Android autofill, use the SMS Retriever API: start with <#> and end with the 11-character app hash. On iOS, autofill works when the code appears near a word such as “code”.
